The overnight lung function test for young children

The Ventica® Lung Function Testing System is a novel method for the identification of variable airway obstruction. Thanks to its effortlessness, the test can be performed even on the youngest children. The system is currently available for investigational use only.

Key Features:

  • Suitable even for the youngest children
  • Test involves simply sleeping at home with a small recording device
  • Overnight monitoring reveals diurnal changes in lung function

The Ventica approach is based on indirect monitoring of lung function. The novelty of the method is that it is capable of recording respiration flow accurately and non-invasively during sleep. The procedure is simple, fully non-invasive and does not involve administration of medication. It is well suited for young children as no effort from the subject is needed. Instead the child simply sleeps at home with a small recording device.

The Ventica test detects diurnal change in lung function. Change may underlie airway obstruction and is thus expected in children at increased probability of persistent asthma. High variability could also indicate the patient’s asthma is not in good control.
